This is the only printed resource for hiking the new North Coast Trail across the tip of Vancouver Island. It has a large format (22x36 inches) for an excellent overview of the trail, detailed high-scale insets for difficult sections, waypoints for all beach accesses and major features, as well as route descriptions to plan your transit. This is the essential North Coast Trail resource.

Coast&Kayak Magazine's series of six fold-out maps is designed to give the best scale and overview of each region for use in the living room to plan the trip and on the water to get your bearings. While printed on hardy stock, they are not waterproof so be sure to keep in a protected chart case when on the water. Each map is 22x36 inches and folds to 4x11 for handy storage. All are designed with kayakers in mind and include handy references not included with charts such as campsites, launch locations and scenic features. Please note: These maps are not waterproof, and while on heavy durable stock they can be damaged in the normal course of use, especially if used in wet conditions. We recommend a chart case or waterproof cover when used in the field, and careful handling. We do allow photocopies for use in the field without copyright infringement (one copy per purchased map). We also recommend laminating; affordable laminating machines are available at most houseware stores these days. If durability is a requirement, we recommend the BC Recreation Atlases. Vol 2 covering the west coast of Vancouver Island is printed on laminated stock. The same warning applies, however, as laminated sheets can also be subject to water damage.

Travel Advisory, the Broken Group Islands: Please note that that Toquaht Bay campground and launch site for the Broken Group Islands is closed indefinitely due to contamination. The Toquaht Band is providing an alternative temporary launch location in the Macoah Reserve, with a new permanent launch site and campground under construction at Secret Beach, midway between the old Toquaht Bay launch and the Macoah Reserve. To get to the new locations, follow the old route and watch for the signs directing you to the new locations.
