Here's the Cormorant 360 results:

The 'Alert Bay 360' was a great success with over 40 participants. The event started at 11:00 am sharp on July 25th. First place went to Gareth Tudor-Jones from Victoria, B.C. with an incredable time of 54 mins. 50 seconds. Second place in the most exciting finish and only by 3 seconds went to Don Irvine of Courtenay,B.C. Third place went to paddling star Kathleen Petereit of Nanaimo, B.C. in a time of 1:02:05. Top 12 finishers visited the prize table and took away native carvings, native prints, and a host of high end items including cash envelopes totalling $350.00. The random grand prize draw of $1,000.00 went to a lucky event finisher, Ericka Kellerhals of Quadra Island, B.C. Just an update that the 2010 race takes place July 24. It's billed as a race, and no doubt there will be competitors, but expect more to view it as a leisurely day out (which it should be). Any self-propelled water vessel qualifies to enter. All participants are eligible for some great grand prizes, including an Atlantis WaV valued at $4,000 and a Sam Johnson beaver mask valued at $2,500. There's also reason to try to be fast: the first male and female top three finishers each qualify for cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250. It should be a great event, including many cultural presentations by the Alert Bay community. A great reason to head to North Vancouver Island.
