Kevin Callan revisits Ontario’s Killarney Provincial Park in this, his tenth outdoor guide for paddlers, bringing us up to date with the changes in the expanding park, and documenting new routes. With his usual informal style, Callan incorporates specific route instructions (twenty in all) with reminiscences and anecdotes from his own experiences on the trips he is describing. The content is organized into seven chapters, with specific attention given to Killarney and French River canoe routes; other Killarney and French River routes suitable for canoes or kayaks (a long time canoeist, he has recently discovered the joys of kayaking); hiking trails; and camping in the winter. He also supplies useful lists of local outfitters, guiding companies and accommodations. Callan’s love of the wilderness and sense of humor shine through the pages of this guide, and one feels confident that his first-hand experience provides trustworthy information to assist would-be explorers of this most beautiful region.

David Miller draws on his extensive knowledge of the Missouri River gained through paddling its waters over three summers, to write this comprehensive guide for paddlers. He begins the book with practical information about the river and how to become prepared for a paddling expedition. Part II moves on to specifics about paddling in three sections of the river: the Upper Missouri, the Dammed Upper Missouri and the Channelized Lower Missouri. Writing in a narrative format, Miller recounts his own experiences as he explains what to expect on each leg of your trip. Highly readable, the text includes tidbits of history and observations of the land through which the Missouri. Each section includes sources for further information, suggested readings, notes and cautions. Miller also provides contact information for relevant federal agencies and local businesses as an appendix.
